AFM takes a proactive approach to fire management to protect its plantations and surrounding native vegetation. Firebreaks help reduce the risk of fire spreading into plantation areas, while careful land management helps maintain a safer landscape.
Previously, AFM relied on controlled burning of native vegetation adjacent to plantations to reduce the risk of uncontrolled fires. Through the introduction of livestock to manage vegetation and reduce fuel loads, AFM has been able to phase out this practice in most areas, helping to protect native vegetation and support biodiversity.
